Montessori Education: Now More Than Ever!

Marie Conti, M. Ed., Senior Director of School Accreditation and Member Programs at the American Montessori Society in New York will deliver a special spotlight keynote at the next Montessori Back to School Conference scheduled in Dallas, Texas at the Shelton School on August 20, 2011.

Marie Conti, M. Ed.,
Senior Director of School
Accreditation and Member
 Programs at the American
Montessori Society, New York.

Before joining AMS in summer of 2007, Marie worked in Montessori schools for 30 years in the Philadelphia, Delaware Valley and Wilmington, DE region as a 3-6 teacher and administrator. Marie was an instructor, intern supervisor and program director at the Chestnut Hill College Montessori Teacher Education Program in Philadelphia from 1990 until 2005. Marie earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees and her AMS Montessori Early Childhood Credential at Chestnut Hill College. She has been presenting at local and national conferences throughout her career.

Her topic, Montessori Education: Now More Than Ever; will highlight Dr. Montessori's discovery about the way children learn, which led to the formation of her philosophy and method of education that continues to thrive today.

Despite the appreciation of Montessori educators and parents of the benefits of a Montessori education for their children, knowledge of this incredibly successful philosophy and method is not in the mainstream- not of public knowledge nor of those who make decisions about public schools in this country. The changing needs of our twenty-first century children indicate that the aspects of Montessori education that made it so viable and beneficial for children throughout the last century are even more valuable today than they ever have been.

As a dear friend of mine, I am excited to not only see her in Texas, but more importantly listen to her words of wisdom! Save the date, Saturday - August 20, 2011!
