2011 Montessori Art Exhibit by the students of The Innovative School

The purpose of hosting an Art Exhibit using work created by our students throughout the year is to show parents how creativity is developed in very young children.

In the early childhood classroom, students are first introduced to art materials and tools that teach simple practical life skills. Practice and repetition with these materials become the means through which children can do creative art work. We incorporate fine arts in the classroom by introducing historical artists, their art and study the special techniques they used.

Parents can discover the outcomes and learn that creativity cannot be taught. It can be nourished through well-prepared activities and a well-prepared environment that provides the opportunities, materials, skills and the understanding that are necessary for experiencing and developing creativity.
